Despite having a great season again in 1941 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, they shipped their superstar shortstop off to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Nobody is sure exactly the circumstances that prompted the trade, but when he arrived for spring training, he was already a star. Here is Vaughan taking his first hacks of the spring and he had quite the buzz surrounding him! At least twenty members fo the team have stopped in their tracks to watch their new star, and from the looks on their faces Vaughan was an instant hit. Leo Durocher, his manager that he would fight with the next season, is front and center watching to ball sail away. Images of Vaughan are rare and desirable as he died young and has a sort of cult following. This is quite simply one of his best!
