While "The Catch" is one of the greatest moments in Baseball history, few original photos of the moment were taken and even fewer developed off the original negative (most were sent via wire transmission for instant use in papers the next day). This example is a clean and crisp sweeping view of the moment it all happened with Mays holding the ball a second after the catch, hat falling off, and starting his turn toward the infield to throw the ball back in. Impressive clarity and a true piece of American Sports History! This example dates to the early 1960's (about ten years after the event) but still within the time frame to be a Vintage 2.
