Original c. 1949 batting photograph of the young catcher Yogi Berra of the New York Yankees in one of his most famous poses. While it is impossible to know exactly how these early images with embedded names were produced, what we can say for sure is that there is absolutely no loss of clarity normally associated with these types of images which leads to the conclusion that the name was added to the negative and this was produced as such. The smallest details are visible under magnification and the image is perfect. While it is likely that PSA would give this a "Type 3" designation, there is no reason why this image can not be found to be a Type 1 if the original negative with the writing on it is ever found.
