Lefty O'Doul is for many reasons one of the most underrated stars in the history of the game. Put aside the fact that he was a Yankees pitcher who defied the odds by reinventing himself as a hitter when his arm went dead or the fact that he did more to spread the game internationally than anyone else, he was just flat out awesome! He led the league in hitting in 1929 with a .398 average and then slipped all the way down to .383 the next season. Taken after being traded to the Dodgers in the off-season, here is O'Doul as the greatest hitter in baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers at spring training. A unique new discovery from photographer Larry Froeber that is being offered here for the first time ever.
