One of the most famous images of Christy Mathewson ever taken is this pose in which he holds the ball close and holds his form a brief second before beginning his wind-up. A pose that is iconic to baseball card collectors as his action photo from the famed T206 set, this is one of the only examples we have ever seen that dates to Mathewson's lifetime as a 1920's re-strike. Printed on silver gelatin paper and with some artistry done to the background to make the image stand out, it presents well with some handling wear from being nearly 100 years old.
