1928 Photograph of Hall of Famer Kennesaw Mountain Landis as he throws out the first ball to open the World Series in New York at Yankee Stadium. While the photo is exceptional in its own right, it is made a unique piece of baseball history as it is the EXACT photograph that was used to create the 1934 'World Series Number" of Baseball Magazine. The blackened background was done for publication and the circle over Landis' image is the oval that was used for the cover. The back also bears the Baseball Magazine sticker from when it was originally sold through Christies. An undervalued piece of history, if this was used to make a baseball card it would be worth thousands, but the cover of Baseball Magazine crosses into the world of art and should be held in even higher esteem!
