Well before he became a professional fighter, Sugar Ray Robinson was a Golden Gloves amateur who competed in various tournaments throughout the East. The offered image was taken by a local photographer who had no idea of the greatness he was witnessing as Robinson (the amateur) kisses the fists that recently brought his the title of "Golden Gloves Champion". An exciting image that is only the second example known to exist, this is stamped on the back from the New York Daily News. The original photographer was Ossie Leviness (the only other known copy of this image identifies the photographer) and this is one of the greatest images of Sugar Ray Robinson that has ever been offered and from extremely early in his career!
