The 1927 bout between Red Chapman and Benny Bass for the Featherweight Championship of the World was one of the bloodiest and greatest battles in the history of the ring. Both fighters were gushing blood from cuts above their eyes and a double knockdown in which Bass barely stumbled to his feet gave him the Championship! Before the epic battle, this photograph was taken by a photographer from Acme and stamped on the back by the New York Daily News. This is the ONLY image from this epic bout we have ever seen and it belongs in a museum.
