The famed Four Horsemen of Notre Dame are the stuff of sports legend. In an era where one powerful ball carrier could dictate the fortunes of your team, the Notre Dame squad of 1924 boasted the four best in the country all in one backfield! While posed images of the quartet are around and come up for sale from time to time, photographs of the player in action are extremely rare. The offered silver gelatin original shows Harry Stuhldreher running the ball while his teammates (and fellow Horsemen) block and clear the path. Panoramic in its current form, the photo has a paper scrape on the bottom and some handling wear along with artistic remnants from publication, but overall it presents well with a clear and precise image. This is the only action photo of its kind we have handled and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
