1946 Photograph of a young Ralph Kiner, Pittsburgh Pirates prospect trying to make a Major League Roster for the first time in his career. Kiner showed some promise in the early 1940's but the War took him from baseball until the Pirates gave him a shot during Spring Training of 1946. He would make the club and lead the league in Home Runs (with a whopping 23). This is one of the earliest Kiner images we have ever seen and it is a beautiful piece of Sporting News artwork as well. We sold this exact photo in our November Premier Auction for $601!
