The 1923 season was the greatest in Yankee history. They christened a new ballpark, and won the World Series! It would be hard to top that, but as Babe Ruth stepped to the plate against Walter Johnson and the Washington Senators on April 20th of 1924, he tried his best. Ruth hit a towering homer off Johnson to start the season off in a big way! The offered photograph shows Ruth from field level crossing the plate after his blast as he was greeted by Eddie Bennett the hunchback mascot of the Yankees. An extremely rare piece of photography that we have never seen before, this is a re-strike from the 1940's but displays like an original and is still about 75 years old! One of the most important images of Ruth we have offered.
