Harmon Killebrew was one of the top prospects in baseball, but it took the youngster longer than expected to get his career going. Appearing in a few games in 1954 with the Senators, he did not quite materialize. The team and Killebrew tried again the next year, but with similar poor results. Killebrew decided that he needed more time in the game so instead of going home after the 1955 season, he headed to Mexico to play winter ball with the Cordobo club. While he did well there, 1956 would be another disappointment, as would 1957 and 1958. Given the fact that he was mostly in the minor leagues before 1959, images from early in his career are almost non-existent with this being the ONLY photograph of Killebrew from his stint in Mexico we have ever seen! In beautiful condition and with exceptional clarity, this is one of his greatest images ever offered!
