It is hard to figure out what is the more exciting subject here, the statuesque pitching pose of early New York Highlander (Yankee) player Les Channell, or the fantastic backdrop of Hilltop Park in the background! A silver gelatin original that is deep in its clarity and tones, making it a fantastic example of pre-war photography. Images of Channell are extremely rare as he only played in a total of seven games in the major leagues, but quality images of Hilltop park are almost non-existent as well. A nice combination of player and ballpark, possibly done by Charles Conlon but more research is needed.
