Unlike Ebbets Field, the Polo grounds did not die with the Giants leaving for California. With the expansion New York Mets not having a home and Shea Stadium still a few years away, the Polo grounds got a bit of a facelift in preparation for big league baseball again! Here we see workers getting the field in shape a few weeks before opening day while a skilled photographer has placed a Mets pennant in the foreground for a sensational photograph.
