"Leave it to Beaver is one of the most famous early television sitcoms of all time, but it almost failed. In 1957 it ran for part of one season on CBS, and they dropped the show. Realizing it's potential, ABC picked it up and ran with it for five seasons. The show was never really popular in its prime, but gained a huge following in syndication and it has since become an icon. The offered photograph of Jerry Mathers "Beaver Cleaver" is dated on the back from the year the show first ran and was issued as a promotional image before the first episode ever aired. A rare piece of television history, this presents well with some light creasing from news-room use.
