1966 Portrait style photograph of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he appeared at a microphone in Chicago and announced the end of marches on the city to protest for better housing for blacks. Taken at the height of the Civil Rights movement and issued through the United Press and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well. The photo has a clear and bold image but does exhibit wear and editorial marks throughout from years of use at a newspaper, as well as two pieces of tape at the top. The significance of the image is of paramount importance to the handling wear.
