One of the most successful silent films of the 1920's was "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring Lon Chaney. It smashed records and became the top film of 1923 while the special effects changed Hollywood forever. Vintage studio photographs from the film are very rare and this is one of the best we have ever handled showing the entire set from a distance, really showing off the magnitude of the production. The photo is absolutely vintage to the 1923 theatrical release and crystal clear. It appears this is a candid "behind the scenes" type image as a cast of hundreds are seen milling around without a central focal point, so perhaps Lon Chaney is in here somewhere as well! The serial number on the lower left (3874) concretely secures this is from the iconic film!
