1932 Photograph of several black prisoners at the Fayetteville Jail in West Virginia as it was announced that inmates had busted down the door and 19 had escaped. It is not clear, but it seems these were the men who refused to leave even though the door had been busted open, and opted to not add time to their sentences if caught. A powerful image that reeks of racism in the prison systems at the time, this is from Acme and with a full paper caption on the back.
