In 1951 Marilyn Monroe attended a Hollywood party in a low cut dress and a caddy newspaper columnist (a woman) noted that she looked cheap and vulgar and would have been better off wearing a potato sack dress. Ever looking for publicity, Marilyn and her agents had this dress made as a tongue in cheek gesture in which she indeed modeled in a sack dress. The images from this photo session are extremely rare with this one dating to about 1962 when she passed away and they restruck this to commemorate the moment.
