There was no bigger name in running during the 1920's than Paavo Nurmi of Finland. He set 22 World Records during the decade and won an astounding 9 Gold Medals at three Olympic games! The offered image is a detailed portrait photo of Nurmi as he was seen arriving in New York to race against American Challengers. Fresh off another set of Olympic Golds (he won five of them a few months earlier) he was more of a gate attraction on a worldwide tour. Oh yeah, he also won three silvers to add to his total during the decade as well! A rare athlete to find images of here in the States and this is a beauty with crystal clarity and despite a chip off the corner and pinholes (along with editorial markings) it looks great.
