Beautiful and important September 1923 photograph of the largest dirigible airship of its time, the "Shenandoah" as it made it's maiden flight in Lakehurst, New Jersey (13 years later the site of the Hindenburg disaster). The Shenandoah was the pride of the aviation world, until it tragically crashed in 1925 and killing fourteen people! A beautiful and stunning image from Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back with a handwritten date.
