1926 Artistic photograph of racer Dave Lewis behind the wheel of his Miller Special and posing on the track at the Indianapolis 500. Identified as the work of the famous Kirkpatrick studios, this is the best image of Lewis we have ever seen and it is being offered here for the first time ever. There is a crease at the top from editorial use, but otherwise it presents really well. Lewis is a tragic figure in racing history as he committed suicide in 1928, just a few years after this photograph was taken. He had retired from racing and was set to enjoy life on his ranch, but a brushfire destroyed it, leaving him depressed and with nothing left to live for.
