One of the most powerful moments of the 20th century, Tommie Smith and John Carlos are giving a salute to "Black Power" while standing on the podium after receiving their Olympic medals in Mexico City. They performed the act because if they couldn't be heard, at least they could be seen! This is a special piece of history and a rare image which presents here in perfect condition. Despite being a slightly later restrike from late 1970's or early 1980's, around 10-15 years after the original was taken, and on vintage "This Paper Manufactured by Kodak" paper, it presents beautifully and has significant age to it. The paper caption is a photo-copy added later by a newspaper One of the more controversial moments in an era dominated with Civil Rights protests.
