Large and poignant photograph of the black boxing champion of the world, Harry Wills, as he posed outside his home in the black area of town and creating quite the image which could be the subject of an entire college dissertation on racism, class, and American society. Wills is dressed to the nines and posed next to his huge luxury car. He was a superstar and a wealthy man. He was surrounded by fans, all of them black, and posed in front of his home which looked to be more run-down than you would expect for a man of his stature. A powerful work of history in great shape, this is crystal clear and issued by Wide World Photos with a stamp and part of the paper caption as well. While the date has been lost to history, we feel this is from about 1924. There is a date on the license plate but we cant quite make it out. There is a tiny rip at the bottom but otherwise it looks nice.
