One of the big surprises of the 1948 baseball season was the rise of the Philadelphia Athletics. They had been bad for years and were without a single Hall of Famer or superstar on the team, but managed to scrap their way to an 84-70 record and finish fourth in the American League which was stacked at the time. Perhaps it was the leadership as their coach was the legendary Connie Mack! A rare team photograph of the club in uniform, this is the only example we have ever handled and it presents wonderfully with crystal clarity and a small crease on the upper left being the only real flaw. Issued by Acme and with a large paper caption on the back.
