1928 Portrait photo of young major leaguer Morris "Moe" Berg. Taken a few years after graduating from Princeton, Berg was known to be an intellectual rarity in a rough profession, but he was also very talented and performed well in the major leagues. Although only a starter for one full season, Berg managed to play in the majors for 15 years! He spoke several languages and graduated Law School but also knew about nuclear physics and other complicated subjects as well. He was used by the United States government on several occasions as a spy in Europe and Japan. The offered image was taken by noted photographer Charles Conlon and is stamped on the back. A youthful glare stands stoic before Conlon's lens as Berg seems to know something we don't; and he probably did! Condition and quality make this a fantastic clean example and is one of only two specimens of this image we know of! old and clean from the archives of the Sporting News and stamped on the back, this comes with a full letter from PSA as well (Type 1). An investment quality image of one of the coolest figures in baseball history!
