Lot Description  

Large and beautiful c. 1926 portrait photograph of underrated National League slugger, Rogers Hornsby, posed in his St. Louis Cardinals uniform during their World Series season. Stamped on the back by photographer Cullen Cain, an important figure in sports photo history as he headed up the National League Service Bureau. Encapsulated by PSA (Type 1) and in great shape, this is likely the finest portrait of Hornsby on the planet and one we have never seen before!
