The 1919 World Series is perhaps the most famous of all time. Lost in the countless stories about Joe Jackson, the eight gamblers, and darkest day in baseball history is the other side; the Cincinnati Reds. They ended up the World Series champions and were really good, but have been relegated to a footnote. Nobody gave the Reds much of a chance, perhaps that is why so few photographers bothered to come take their picture! So rare are images of the 1919 Reds team, that this is only the second example we have ever handled in person. The entire team is pictured in uniform after winning the pennant and excited for the chance to face the White Sox! Issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back, this is a high grade image that has one faint corner bend.
