With a .281 career batting average achieved largely during the deadball era and a home run title to his credit, it is safe to say Clarence "Tillie" Walker was a star in the American League. Largely forgotten today as his career coincided with Babe Ruth, he was one of the most feared sluggers of the WWI era. The offered photograph from the famous Charles Conlon captures Walker in either 1913 or 1914 based on the uniform style which makes it one of his earliest we have seen. Bold and clear, this is a work of baseball art that also comes with a PSA letter (Type 1). This is the photograph that was used for Walker's 1915 Cracker Jack baseball card and is the only example we know of in the hobby!
