1922 Pitching action photograph of Yankees submarine pitching sensation Carl Mays and taken during spring training as it was announced he had signed a two year contract with the team. One of the best pitchers of his era, he is largely remembered today for killing a player with a pitched ball in 1920. The quality of the image is off the charts and despite some pinholes and corner wear from editorial use, the photo presents pretty well.
