One of the most powerful moments of the 20th century, Tommie Smith and John Carlos are giving a salute to "Black Power" while standing on the podium after receiving their Olympic Medals in Mexico City. They performed the act because if they couldn't be heard, at least they could be seen! Taken by photographer John Dominis of LIFE Magazine, this is one of the only full sized vintage color prints we have ever see or heard of! Printed on double weight paper and with lengthy notations on the back, this is a special piece of history and a rare image which has never been offered before. Condition is essentially perfect and the photo comes encapsulated by PSA as a Type 1 and comes with a full LOA as well. One of the more controversial moments in an era dominated with Civil Rights protests. An image that belongs in a museum and to the best of our knowledge, the only color example that PSA has slabbed!
