1924 Sweeping image from the first game of the famous World Series between the Giants and the Senators at the ballpark in Washington DC (Griffith Stadium). The photograph provides a fantastic look at the grounds as well as the packed stands in left field, but the real gem here is that the Senators are in the field and the pitcher has just go of a fastball toward the hitter. Not just any hitter... this is a rare action photo of Walter Johnson on the mound! One of the only images of Johnson actually pitching that is not a "posed" action shot for photographers, that exists in the world and this one is from his finest time as a player. Photo has a few pinholes from editorial use but otherwise it is a beauty with tremendous detail!
