1937 Horizontal photograph of the famed airship Hindenburg as it is completely engulfed in flames on the landing strip in Lakehurst, New Jersey. One of the most tragic and important moments of the era, the flames rage as onlookers ran for safety and others stood helplessly and prayed. An original image from International News and stamped on the back with a full paper caption, this is a powerful work of art that is among the best, and rarest, of all Hindenburg images to find. A poignant reminder of the frailty of human life, the photo is crystal clear and bold with the use of light and shadows created by the raging inferno against the black sky really standing out. The photo has some creasing and wear mostly along the right border from news-room use, but overall it looks pretty nice.
