Large 1928 photograph of young Amelia Earhart, Boston society girl and amateur flyer, who hoped for a chance to cross the Atlantic Ocean along with Wilmer Stutz. This was issued well before Earhart was famous and it mentions on the back that IF she was able to get the chance to fly, she would be the first woman to cross the Atlantic. An incredibly early piece of aviation history and the earliest image of Earhart we have ever handled. Issued by Wide World Photos and stamped on the back with a nice paper caption as well, the photo presents well with some handling wear on the right border. Perhaps her greatest photograph we have ever handled and the only one that pre-dates her famous flight.
