Incredible 1948 portrait photograph of young Detroit Red Wings star Gordie Howe in uniform and posing in the locker room. While the image has been reproduced millions of times, finding original examples, especially dated before his Parkhurst rookie card came out, are special. This one has several vintage date stamps on the back, the earliest putting this in the middle of the 1949-50 season which is an important marker in the release of this image, placing it at least a full year before his rookie card! Howe is young and full of promise, but still a pimply faced hot shot when this image was taken. One of the most important Howe images we have offered and despite some creasing and handling wear from being in a photo archive for years, it looks great!
