Today the idea of concentration camps in Nazi Germany are a fact of WWII. When this photograph was taken in early 1933, the idea of collecting political prisoners and undesirable characters in work camps seemed a weird novelty, but here it is. In what could be the first documented image of a concentration camp in the earliest days of Nazi power, we have this image from Wide World Photos showing several men being forced to work while Nazi soldiers look on. While we have not been able to document which camp this is and the description on the back in unclear, the date is of utmost importance as it establishes this photo was taken before the summer of 1933! There are some editorial enhancements from publication, but otherwise the photo is in great shape. An important piece of history that is being offered here for the first time ever!
