1914 Sweeping photograph of pioneer auto racer Josef Christiaens behind the wheel of his car at the Indianapolis 500. He was a well known aviator who made the jump to cars and was one of the better known racers of his era. A bold image that presents beautifully, this is as good as early auto racing photography gets! Images of Christiaens are extremely rare as he died in 1919 in a car accident like many of the early racers. Photo has some mild wear to the corners as well as pinholes from editorial use, but it looks great!
