Today the PGA Championship is one of the top tournaments in golf, but when this photo was taken in 1922, it was a new event with little history behind it. The offered photograph captures the two men who would fight for the title in a finals match, Gene Sarazen and Emmet French, posed together at Oakmont. This was just the sixth ever PGA Championship and this image is the earliest we have ever seen from the event. Sarazen would win the tournament and catapult himself to the forefront of golf superstardom. This is a unique new discovery from the Central Press and offered here for the first time ever. An important piece of golf history, taken at the famed Oakmont Country Club, that presents well with note to a crease at the left and pinholes from editorial use.
