One of the most breathtaking images ever taken by a baseball Photographer is this 1950 shot of Roy Campanella showing his form in catching a foul popup behind the plate. It was used to make his 1951 Bowman baseball card and has been reproduced thousands of times in books. It is a work of photographic art that just happens to use baseball to convey it's message and power. Original 8X10 image issued by the Brooklyn National League baseball club, condition is beautiful with one tiny corner spot of paper loss that is hard to see. This is one of the only examples of this photo we have offered and one of only a handful that have ever been sold. Museum Quality and Investment Grade, this is in our opinion a vintage 1950's example but issued near the end of Campanella's career, but PSA has deemed it a Type 2 from the early 1960's. While we do disagree with the assessment, we have left it in the slab because it is an expensive process and will let the new buyer bust it out if they want and have one of the finest baseball card images ever taken in raw form!
