When Elvis Presley left to head over to Germany as part of his military service, he was the King of Rock. Before him, however, was Bill Haley, the first King of Rock. In this rare photograph, we find the duo both in Frankfurt, but under vastly different circumstances. Haley was in town for a concert, as a performer, and Elvis was just a spectator in his military uniform. While he had to purchase a ticket like everyone else, Elvis was kept backstage to prevent a riot from breaking out. A poignant image of Haley, tuning his guitar, and Elvis looking off in the distance and pondering his future when it could be him back on stage! One of the greatest, if not THE greatest images of Elvis we have ever handled and offered here for the first time ever, this is from a German division of the International News and with a full paper caption on the back.
