Two of the biggest stars in professional football in 1922 were Glenn Killinger and Hinkey Haines. Desperate for athletic talent to rebuild their team, both men were scouted and signed by the New York Yankees as well and this picture captures both men in uniform on the baseball field. Killinger was possibly the better college player at Penn State and ultimately the Canton Bulldogs, but it would be Haines that would make the major leagues in both sports and win the NFL Championship in 1927. An extremely rare photograph of both stars after they were signed by the Yankees and appeared in uniform for the first time. Issued by the Keystone View Company and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well, the photo presents well with a crease and pinholes from editorial use.
