The life of author Margaret Mitchell seemed like a fairy tale, right up to the end when it became a tragic horror story. She was walking to the theatre in Atlanta in 1949 when she was struck by a car and hit her head violently on the concrete, killing the young author. The offered candid crime scene photograph shows her lifeless body laying on the ground in a pool of her own blood. This is the only image of her tragic death we have ever seen and it was issued by the International News and has a full paper caption on the back. A tragic piece of entertainment history offered here for the first time ever, fresh out of a newspaper archive.
