Beautiful c. 1917 photograph of two coal miners working deep underground in dangerous conditions to put food on the tables of their families. A poignant reminder of how the other half of the country lived a hundred years ago, this captures the life of a miner like few we have ever seen. Stamped on the back by the Press Illustrating Company and in nice shape overall with a few light pinholes and a tiny corner chip.
