1943 Important and dramatic photograph of the desolation on Tarawa island with dead soldiers laying right where they fell after paying the ultimate sacrifice. Because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter, dead American soldiers were rarely photographed with this being one of the only examples we have ever seen! Issued by the Marine Corps and in great shape.
