In one of the most incredible pieces of spot photography ever taken, this 1933 photograph shows Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak as he has just been shot by an assassin and was being rushed away for medical attention. The bullet was intended for President Franklin Roosevelt but Cermak took it and although it appeared he would live, he eventually succumbed to the bullet wound. This is just the second example of this photograph we have ever seen and it is a nice one off the original negative despite being a 1950's restrike and it has a long handwritten caption on the back. There is some creasing at the top but it otherwise presents nicely.
