Of all the artists destroying conventional form after the turn of the 20th century, Kees van Dongen is one of the most influential. His work inspired others and his auction record for his paintings is quite impressive. Despite his fame however, images of the artist himself are quite rare. The offered photo shows van Dongen at work in his studio, with a finished painting on the ground while another is in it's infant stages. This is a unique work of photo-art as it was recently pulled from a newspaper archive that did it's own story on the artist and sent their own photographer to take pictures, hence this is NOT a news-service image but rather a singular work that is being offered here for the first time ever. All things considered, one of the most important and rare images of an artist at work we have ever handled.
