While Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier for major league baseball, every other team besides Brooklyn had to have their own man become the first on that team to break the barrier. For the Philadelphia Athletics, it was Negro leaguer Bob Trice. In 1953 he suited up for the Athletics and took the mound on September 19th. The offered image is dated from this event and is the only image of Trice from 1953 and showing him in Athletics uniform that we have ever seen. An undervalued pioneer, the importance of this image can not be overstated. Photo has a couple light creases and a touch of wear to the left side, but overall the image looks great!
