By all accounts Connie Mack was about the nicest guy you would ever meet. A man who never cussed or yelled, he earned the respect of his players and rivals through his intense knowledge of the game and by example. Here he spends a moment with a young pitcher named Byron Harris at Spring Training showing him how to grip the ball for a specific pitch he was apparently having trouble with. You can almost hear the soft spoken Mack as he calmly explains the finer points of the game to a young player who had to feel he was in the presence of a baseball God! A fine image in nice shape overall, this is a later re-strike but still a cool image!
