1925 Was the low point in the career of Babe Ruth. He missed about two months at the beginning of the season from the "bellyache heard round the world" and was working to get back to prove he was not finished in baseball. Here he appeared in uniform at Yankee Stadium and posed with batboy Eddie Bennett, choosing his weapon. This important photograph seems innocent at first glance, but put into context, this was a message from the Yankees that Ruth was coming back and ready for action. Stamped on the back by Underwood and Underwood with the date on the paper caption, this was the modern equivalent of a tweet or Facebook post showing an athlete in the gym signaling he was about to hit the field again! The photo presents well in nice shape overall and the reverse carries some remnants of modern stickers which were mostly peeled away to reveal the vintage Underwood stamps. This is an important image of Ruth from the turning point of his career and one we have never seen before.
