Catchers in the deadball era were supposed to be hard nosed, call a good game, and be a leader. If they could also hit above .200, that was considered a bonus. Wally Schang was one of those that could do it all. He hit .284 over a long career with over 1500 hits! Seen here in 1914 as a young member of the Philadelphia Athletics, this is one of his better images we have seen. Issued in the 1920's near the end of his career, this is a perfect 10/10 from the International News.
